Testimony in the trial of three former Milwaukee police officers charged with beating Frank Jude Jr. ended Tuesday with a training instructor saying the only justification for inflicting Jude's injuries would be if "that was a fight for my life."

Milwaukee Police Lt. Stephen Basting said in such a situation, the officers involved would also have injuries, as he looked at giant photo of a disfigured Jude taken shortly after the October 2004 attack. No evidence of injuries to the defendants or others has been presented during the 12-day trial. They have said Jude was very strong and fought them.
