The prosecutor who won the conviction of a former police officer for killing his wife doctored key evidence in the case, and because of that misconduct John Maloney should get a new trial, his attorney argued Wednesday before the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

But assistant Attorney General Daniel O'Brien said Maloney's appeal is based on "rumor, innuendo, half-baked conspiracy theories and half-truths."
