Girls Volleyball Preview; Top Talent No Longer in Clusters; Distribution of Elite Players Makes for Wide-Open Race

This season offers a talented crop of senior hitters and a couple of standout juniors to go along with them. Some are hitters of the most ferocious variety and others are capable of playing both sides of the net equally well and even setting.

And unlike in the past, the talent isn't bunched up at a few schools, making parity a factor.

"The talent is spread out a lot more than the years before," said Catholic Memorial coach Ted Schulte, who has been at the helm since 1992. "If you were doing this before, you'd be looking at two or three players from the same schools. Now you're seeing some really exceptional players at different schools."
