New Berlin Teachers union representatives in the New Berlin School District can expect some tough bargaining in future contract negotiations regardless of who wins Tuesday's School Board race. All four candidates for two open seats say they will look for ways to save money on personnel costs, the largest portion of the school budget.

But all four have different ideas of other ways to save money or increase revenue in a district where both property and school taxes are among the highest in Waukesha County.

Heather Warner, Art Marquardt, Gregory Schoepke and Susan Manley are running for three-year terms to the seven-member School Board. The position pays $3,000 a year.

Warner, a substitute teacher and former special education aide, said teachers ought to contribute to their health insurance benefits, a move she says would provide considerable financial relief to the district.
