Summary


March is the roller-coaster month, as anything from tornadoes to blizzards or flooding rains can strike anywhere in the state. During the first three weeks of the month snowstorms are generally more prevalent, but as you get to the end of this month anything can happen.

On this date in 1916, strong thunderstorms dropped 3.8 inches of rain in Beloit, causing localized flooding. Several severe thunderstorms tore through southern Wisconsin in 1991, knocking down many trees and power lines, modular homes and one drive-in movie screen. Those severe thunderstorms in Rock County lifted a lone camper and tossed him into a mobile home.
