The beautiful weather we've had over the past few days will turn into more clouds and the chance for showers and thunderstorms today. Cooler and drier air rolls in for Wednesday and should linger into the rest of the week.

This is the last week of September, and so far it has been a rather mild and dry month. Rainfall in Milwaukee is only 0.85 of an inch, and that makes this month almost 2 inches below the monthly average. September is generally noted as the month that begins the transition to the drier time of the year in southern Wisconsin. However, on this date in 2005, heavy rain with periods of thunderstorms brought rainfalls of 2 to 6 inches across mainly the southern part of Milwaukee County. Isolated flooding problems were reported with the heavy rainfalls.
