Summerfest opens to warm and humid conditions with a typical summertime chance for an isolated thunderstorm in the late afternoon and high temperatures in the mid-80s. The chances are small for today, but the likelihood of thunderstorms is much greater Friday. Cooler and less humid air rolls in for the weekend.

The attendance figures at Summerfest are generally linked to the musical acts and, of course, the weather. The warmest years were 1988, 1991, 1996, 1998 and 2002. While the warmest summers over the past 40 years were 1995 and 1988, you must remember that this festival runs for only a short part of summer and doesn't necessarily match those years. The five coolest runs occurred in 1968, 1972, 1979, 1981 and 1982.
