West Nile Virus Is Detected in 5 Crows

Summary


Five dead crows found in Washington County have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the county Health Department. Two were found in Germantown and one each in West Bend, the Town of Farmington and Town of Wayne.

The discoveries mean Washington County residents have to be more vigilant in protecting themselves against mosquito bites, Public Health Officer Linda Walter said in a statement Tuesday. Mosquitoes get West Nile virus by feeding on infected birds and can in turn infect humans, the statement says.
