I've spent three decades successfully dodging jury duty. But last week, I ended up in the Waukesha County Courthouse with about two dozen other people who had been summoned. Seven of us were chosen for the jury. We did not feel fortunate.

Here's what I learned: Nobody wants to serve on a jury. But the moment you are sworn in, you invest yourself wholeheartedly. No matter the case at hand, the judicial process is fascinating.
